Founded in 2017 by Avinash Kumar and Mayank Batheja, Credenc is a unique platform to finance meritorious students for their college expenses by underwriting their employability, rather than the means available to their families. Credenc is disrupting the domestic higher education financing market with its future income prediction model which ensures the best students of our country are not starved for funds for their higher education.
The founders met while working at CarDekho as part of the senior management. Together they built out the finance vertical for the company and developed a great professional understanding which led them to startup together. At CarDekho they worked closely with more than 12 banks & NBFC’s helping
them with digital transformation projects and also built a digital auto loans marketplace doing more than ~US$ 100 million annually. This helped understand lending from close quarters and also see how traditional lenders are looking at various customer segments and finally decided to build their own education loans company.
Both founders have had previous exits as entrepreneurs and sold their respective companies. Education is close to both the founders and both have parents who are teachers. They also come from small towns where they have closely seen very bright students giving up on their academic dreams due to non-availability of funds. This impacted them deeply and led to the birth of Credenc.
